The idea behind The Creative Cup is to unite Manchester’s digital network through a mutual interest in football and to get agencies communicating with each other in a different environment.
We created a football competition and invited 32 of Manchester's digital agencies & friends to compete. The result? £1.9k for Marie Curie.
Since then The Creative Cup has grown into a weekly league format consisting of two divisions of 8 teams. In May we also did the second Creative Cup event raising another £1.9k taking the total money raised to just short of 4k.
The Twitterboard is the most rewarding feature of the site and is great fun following the banter on a Wednesdays and Thursdays. We all know how powerful Twitter can be, and we all know how heavily the digital community in Manchester uses it. To take advantage of this, we spent a lot of time creating and developing the hashtags #creativeleague and #creativecup. These are then pulled onto the website through the Twitter api.
